There was dismal weather and low voter turnout at the former First Baptist Church in Neosho where 103 people had cast ballots as of 3:45 p.m. today. Among them was Michael Crowe, a maintenance worker for the Neosho Parks and Recreation Dept. Crowe said he voted in favor of the proposed amendment that would change the way the number of available liquor licenses in the city is set. “I think it is an equal opportunity issue,” he said. Crowe said he is not necessarily in favor of more licenses, but thinks everybody who wants one should have an equal chance.
Max Forste of Neosho, the co-owner of a computer and electronic store, said he voted against the amendment because he thought it was something the voters should continue to decide and not the council. “I think it has worked fine so far,” he said, “I just hate to put too much power in the hands of the city council.”
