Crowder College announces selection of new president

NEOSHO, Mo. — The president’s position at Crowder College has been offered to Jennifer Methvin, who currently serves as vice chancellor for academics at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope, Crowder officials announced Monday.

“I am honored and humbled to be asked to serve as the next president of Crowder College,” Methvin said in a statement. “After visiting the college last week and interacting with faculty, staff, students and stakeholders, it is apparent to me that Crowder College is genuinely focused on and skilled at serving students. Crowder lives the comprehensive community college mission every day. (My family) and I look forward to becoming a part of the Crowder family and joining the college in its work.”

Monday’s announcement came after the Crowder board of trustees hosted open forums over the past two weeks with Methvin and the other two finalists, Jim Cummins, vice president of finance at Crowder College, and Brent Bates, vice president of education and student services at State Fair Community College.

“The board of trustees had a very tough decision to make,” board president Andy Wood said in a statement. “We thought all three finalists could be great presidents. Having said that, the board of trustees came to the unanimous opinion that Dr. Methvin was the right person for Crowder. We’re very excited about Dr. Methvin becoming the next president of Crowder College. We think the Crowder family and the entire community are going to be very impressed by Dr. Methvin.”
