FEMA administrator on hand for ribbon cutting

JOPLIN, Mo. — Joplin’s Irving Elementary students greeted a host of dignitaries to usher in a new era and a new location for their school during a special ribbon cutting for the $18.5 million facility.

The school replaces the former Irving and Emerson elementary schools which were destroyed in the May, 2011 tornado. Federal Emergency Management Agency Deputy Administrator Rich Serino praised the resiliency of the Joplin community during the ceremony.
