JOPLIN, Mo. —
The names of two people killed in a weekend crash in Joplin have been released.
The victims have been identified as 25-year-old Christian Beasley, Webb City, and 24-year-old Kristopher Hawkins, Asbury. Trevor Morris, 24, also of Webb City, sustained moderate injuries and is being treated at a local hospital, according to a statement issued earlier today by the Joplin Police Department.
The driver was identified as Jonathan Snyder, 27, Webb City. Snyder has been charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of second-degree assault. He is currently being held in the Joplin City Jail on a $15,000 dollar bond.
According to police, at 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, there was a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of G Street and St Louis Avenue.
“The investigation at this time indicates the driver of the vehicle was traveling too fast around a curve and lost control of the vehicle,” the police stated. “The vehicle left the roadway and overturned. Two passengers were ejected from the vehicle and were pronounced dead at the scene. A third passenger, who was wearing his seatbelt, was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
“This crash is still under investigation and awaiting toxicology results, but alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor to the crash.”
