KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Republican Rep. Roy Blunt defeats Democrat Richard Monroe to win re-election in Missouri’s 7th Congressional District.
The Associated Press declared Blunt the winner based on an analysis of current returns, voter turnout and previous voting patterns.
Blunt is the GOP minority whip, the second ranking Republican official in the House.
The Springfield congressman, father of Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt, will serve a seventh term in the southwest Missouri district.
Libertarian Kevin Craig and Constitution Party candidate Travis Maddox also were on the ballot.
