CARTHAGE, Mo. — An electrical fire Wednesday night heavily damaged a vacant house in Carthage.
The Carthage Fire Department responded at 8:12 p.m. to a report of a fire at 750 E. Chestnut St. Flames were showing on the northwest corner of the single-story home when firefighters arrived, the department said.
The front of the house, owned by Dan Winfrey of Joplin, was damaged by fire, and smoke damage was reported throughout. The cause was listed as a short circuit in an outlet.
