CARTHAGE, Mo. — A new president of the Carthage Chamber of Commerce will be introduced on Tuesday.
A selection was made this week, according to JoAnn Evans, chairwoman of the chamber committee that interviewed candidates for the vacancy.
The new president will be announced and introduced at a news conference at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the chamber office, Evans said.
The committee began work late last year after John Bode, who had held the post for three years, announced plans to resign. Bode agreed to remain until a new president could be found, and he said he and his wife then would return to northeast Missouri for family reasons. Before coming to Carthage, Bode was executive director of the Lewis County Industrial Development Authority in Monticello.
The selection committee received resumes from 18 applicants. Telephone interviews with six semifinalists narrowed the field to four finalists who were invited for personal interviews.
Evans said the committee recommended its choice to the full board of the chamber, whose members made the final decision.
Economic development
The president of the Carthage Chamber of Commerce also serves as Carthage’s economic development director under a contract with the city.
