Charges of forcible rape and sodomy against a Carthage man were dismissed Thursday in Jasper County Circuit Court at the request of the county prosecutor’s office.
William F. Hutson, 33, was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on charges that he raped and sodomized a 32-year-old woman July 15 in Carthage. The charges were dismissed by Associate Judge Richard Copeland at the request of an assistant prosecutor.
Prosecutor Dean Dankelson told the Globe after the hearing that circumstances in the case forced the dismissal of the charges. Dankelson said the case will most likely be refiled as a domestic assault.
