PITTSBURG, Kan. — Police nabbed two male suspects Thursday morning in a vehicle break-in in the 400 block of South Olive Street in Pittsburg.
The Pittsburg Police Department said in a news release that an officer responding to a report of three young males acting in a suspicious manner in the 600 block of Olive Street at 9:20 a.m. spotted three suspects matching their description a short time later in the 600 block of Broadway.
The suspects fled when the officer attempted to contact them. With the help of other officers, two of the suspects were caught a short time later and allegedly tied to the vehicle break-in, police said.
A 16-year-old male who allegedly had a personal check belonging to the owner of the vehicle on his person. An 18-year-old male caught by officers, Izmael S. Carmona, had a digital camera, a global positioning system device and a tape measure belonging to the victim in his possession.
Those items and two bags containing paperwork were returned to the victim by police.
Both Serrano and the juvenile were charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor theft. The third suspect had yet to be located by Friday, although the investigation was continuing, according to police.
