Two of three defendants accused of robbing a Joplin pizza deliveryman waived preliminary hearings Wednesday and were ordered bound over for trial.
Shawn M. Simmons, 19, and Keith D. Walton, 31, are charged with first-degree robbery in the mugging of a Domino’s Pizza deliveryman the night of July 29 in the 1800 block of South Pearl Avenue. A third defendant, Caleb S. Baker, 20, is charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.
Police say the three men robbed a delivery driver of cash and pizzas after approaching him and asking if he could make change for a $20 bill. Baker allegedly pulled a gun and pointed it at the delivery driver’s face.
Simmons and Walton waived their preliminary hearings, and Associate Circuit Judge Richard Copeland set their initial appearances in a trial division for Sept. 24. Baker has yet to have a preliminary hearing.
