An Aurora teenager died of injuries she suffered in a single-vehicle accident at 5:44 p.m. Sunday on County Road 1180, a mile southwest of Aurora in Lawrence County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Janee E. Fountain, 17, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Chaundre L. Hall, 17, also of Aurora. Hall and three other passengers from Aurora also were injured when the driver lost control of the southbound vehicle and it ran off the road, and hit a fence and embankment, according to the patrol.
Fountain, Hall, Benjamin D. Lewis, 18, and Abigail K. Walles, 16, were taken to Mercy Hospital Springfield. Another passenger, Terry W. Teague, 20, was taken to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.
Fountain was pronounced dead at 6:52 p.m. at Mercy, the patrol said.
• A 74-year-old Grove, Okla., man died of injuries he suffered in a crash at 4:36 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 44, a mile east of Afton, Okla., in Ottawa County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Jackie D. Williams was pronounced dead at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami, Okla., the patrol said. Williams was traveling east in the westbound lanes of I-44 for about a mile, then his vehicle struck the center barrier of the highway, according to the patrol. Authorities said the accident remains under investigation.
