Quick arrest made in Joplin carjacking

JOPLIN, Mo. — Joplin police had a suspect in custody and the vehicle returned to its owner 27 minutes after a carjacking today on South Sergeant Avenue.

The Joplin Police Department said in a news release that a man, who brushed a woman aside to commandeer her Ford Taurus about 8:49 a.m. today, was spotted by a patrol officer and pulled over minutes later on Interstate 44.

Damien D. Doxley, 35, is being held at the Joplin City Jail on suspicion of robbery, tampering with a motor vehicle and driving while revoked. The vehicle was returned to its owner at 9:16 a.m., police said.
