Several injured in traffic accidents on roads in area

— A Stella woman was injured in an accident at 2:49 p.m. Thursday on Route D, a half-mile south of Stella in Newton County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Crystal A. Johnson, 33, was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said.

Johnson’s northbound vehicle traveled off the roadway and overturned. She was ejected from her vehicle, the patrol said.

• A 72-year-old Lamar man was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 1:34 p.m. Thursday on Highway 160 at the east city limits of Lamar in Barton County, according to the patrol.

Gary D. Davis was taken by ambulance to Barton County Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries, according to the patrol.

The eastbound Davis vehicle was slowing to make a turn and was struck in the rear by a Freightliner truck driven by Dwayne E. Burris, 51, of Rich Hill, the patrol said.

• A Lamar man was injured when he was thrown from an all-terrain vehicle at 8:30 a.m. Thursday on U.S. Highway 160, six miles east of Lamar, the patrol said.

The patrol reported that Ralph Stahl, 64, suffered serious injuries and was flown to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin.

The patrol said Stahl drove the ATV off the road and down a steep embankment. The vehicle overturned, ejecting him.
