Washburn woman tells authorities of home invasion

CASSVILLE, Mo. — Authorities said they have arrested one man and are looking for another in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a Southwest Missouri woman.

Matthew Jeffrey Miller, 21, of Eagle Rock, is charged with kidnapping, burglary and tampering with a motor vehicle in the incident last Friday. Barry County Sheriff Mick Epperly said the woman told authorities that two men burst into her home in rural Washburn and demanded money, drugs and her car. Epperly said she was driven to Cassville, where the men used the victim’s bank card to withdraw $350 from her account.

Eventually, the woman was dumped in rural Barry County and walked more than a mile for help.

Authorities also are seeking Miller’s brother in the case.
