Bicyclist injured when hit by car

A Carl Junction man was injured in a car-bicycle accident at 10:28 p.m. Tuesday on Route Z in Carl Junction, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Herschel J. Salchow, 84, suffered minor injuries. He was taken to Freeman Hospital West, Joplin.

The driver of the car, Matthew H. Morrison, 26, of Joplin, was not injured.

The patrol said Salchow’s bicycle crossed the roadway in front of the eastbound Morrison car and was struck broadside.
