Seneca man, charged with statutory sodomy, in jail in lieu of bond

A Seneca man, charged in Jasper County Circuit Court with two counts of statutory sodomy, was arrested by Joplin police at 11:50 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of Third Street.

The charges against Jason C. Brown were filed Tuesday.

A probable-cause affidavit states Joplin police Detective Randy Black was told by a victim that Brown sexually molested her on Oct. 30, 2009, in Joplin, when she was 10. She is 14 now. She said there were other incidents, but she couldn’t remember specific dates.

Brown was in the Joplin City Jail on Friday in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
