Rogers man facing charge in 2011 slaying

— PINEVILLE, Mo. — A Rogers, Ark., man has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of another man in McDonald County more than two years ago.

Fred H. Bremer, 39, was arrested late Tuesday and is being held in the McDonald County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.

The body of Jack McCain, 68, also of Rogers, was found with multiple gunshot wounds from a shooting that McDonald County Sheriff’s Department officials say took place Feb. 20, 2011. According to a probable-cause statement filed by sheriff’s officials, Bremer took McCain in his vehicle under the pretense of helping him feed his animals. While in an isolated area on a dirt road, Bremer allegedly shot McCain repeatedly in the back while he was running away.

McCain’s body was found on a rural road about eight miles east of Jane.
