Pursuit in Kansas leads to charges

McCUNE, Kan. — A 32-year-old suspect is facing multiple charges after leading sheriff’s deputies on a vehicle pursuit Thursday night following a domestic disturbance in McCune.

Jasper L. Hedges, a resident of Elk City, Kan., was being held Friday at the Crawford County Jail on warrants from Livingston and Montgomery counties and on charges of being a felon in possession of firearms, fleeing and eluding, driving while suspended and driving without registration or insurance.

The Crawford County sheriff’s office said Hedges was taken into custody following a domestic dispute over a child custody issue about 10 p.m. at a residence on Brunetti Street in McCune. Witnesses told deputies that Hedges had left the address with several weapons in his possession that did not belong to him, the sheriff’s office said.

Hedges was taken into custody a short time later near 40th Street and 540th Avenue after a brief vehicle pursuit. He was being held on bonds totaling $22,500.
