A 39-year-old man has been charged with a felony count of resisting arrest by fleeing and numerous traffic violations stemming from a vehicle pursuit early Thursday morning by Joplin police.
Cpl. Chuck Niess said Daniel S. Hart, 1630 S. Missouri Ave., was located Friday morning near 14th Street and Minnesota Avenue, and arrested in connection with a pursuit the previous morning.
Niess said the pursuit began at 12:14 a.m. Thursday when an officer tried to stop a red Ford Mustang at 17th Street and Grand Avenue for a suspected license plate violation.
The Mustang during the chase ran into the rear of another vehicle at 24th Street and Range Line Road.
The pursuit continued into Newton County along Spurgeon Road before the vehicle spun out at Holly and Falcon roads, and the driver and a second male got out and ran, Niess said. He said a female passenger was detained by officers at that point and the vehicle was impounded.
Besides the felony count of resisting arrest, Hart was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and several other traffic violations.
