WEBB CITY, Mo. —
Four adult males and a juvenile were taken into custody Sunday morning on charges that they assaulted two Webb City police officers.
Assistant Chief Don Melton of the Webb City Police Department said in a news release that both officers were treated for injuries at a local hospital following the incident in the 500 block of West Broadway.
Melton said the officers were responding to a 3:38 a.m. call reporting several people yelling and fighting in a parking lot. One of the people involved fled as police arrived at the location and an officer pursued him into a residence, where several people attacked the officer, he said. A second officer who tried to come to the first officer’s aid also was attacked inside the residence, he said.
Three of the adults taken into custody were charged with felony assault on a law enforcement officer. They were identified as Douglas Humphrey, 50, and his sons, Dalton D. Humphrey, 18, and Maximilian S. Humphrey, 24, all of Webb City. A 15-year-old male also was detained and charged with felony assault on an officer.
A 17-year-old male was taken into custody and charged with a misdemeanor offense of interfering with an arrest.
