Deputies arrest shooting fugitive in McDonald County

GOODMAN, Mo. — Over the weekend, McDonald County sheriff’s deputies, state troopers and federal marshals arrested a fugitive wanted in the shooting of another man in Nebraska.

Sheriff Mike Hall said deputies took Steven I. Harrod, 64, into custody at a residence east of Goodman where he had been staying since fleeing a Jan. 14 shooting in Louisville, Neb.

Hall said the house was placed under surveillance Sunday while a search warrant was obtained and served about 7 p.m.

Harrod was arrested without incident on warrants from Nebraska charging him with first-degree assault and use of a firearm to commit a felony.

Harrod is suspected of shooting 32-year-old Michael Green in the head with a handgun. He reportedly was renting a room to Green and a woman, and became upset with his tenants when the woman used his pickup truck to drive Green home from work.
