Joplin 9-year-old reports man tried to lure her into vehicle

JOPLIN, Mo. — Joplin police are investigating the report of an adult male trying to coax a 9-year-old girl into his truck while he was parked outside a Joplin elementary school.

Police received a report of an orange truck pulling up to the fence outside the Royal Heights Elementary School this morning and trying to coax the girl into the truck.

Detectives say they have contacted the girl’s family and school officials as they attempt to confirm the events of the morning.

Police describe the suspect as a male with short brown curly hair. He reportedly had a scar or burn on his face and tattoos on both forearms. He was wearing jeans.
