Conway resident hurt in accident

A Conway resident was injured in a single-car accident at 3:45 a.m. Friday on Interstate 44, about 10 miles east of Mount Vernon in Lawrence County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Kayla G. Jefferson, 25, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, the state patrol said.

She was driving a westbound car that ran off the road and overturned several times, the patrol said.

 • Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday on Fourth Street at Turk Avenue, according to a Joplin Police Department report.

One of the drivers involved, Mary S. Johnson, 78, of Webb City, and her passenger, Rhonda L. Rineker, 49, of Joplin, were taken to Freeman Hospital West, the police report said.

Their car was southbound on Turk Avenue and pulling out from a stop sign when it collided with a westbound car driven by Donald E. Ruddick, 36, of Joplin, the report said.
