Joplin woman injured in accident on Seventh Street

A 36-year-old woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 7:58 p.m. Thursday on Seventh Street at Murphy Avenue, according to a Joplin police report.

Kelly L. Leon de la Paz, of Joplin, was taken to Freeman Hospital West, the police report said.

Leon de la Paz was driving a westbound vehicle that was struck in the rear by a westbound vehicle driven by Jordan L. Chambers, 20, of Joplin, as Leon de la Paz was stopped to make a left turn, the report said.

• Five people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 4:07 p.m. Thursday on Highway 249 at Zora Street, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Both drivers, Seth T. Lorton, 17, of Joplin, and Shayna Cowgill, 27, of Carthage, were taken to Freeman Hospital West, along with three passengers in Cowgill’s pickup truck: Dalton Cowgill, 4; Kaden Cowgill, 6; and Tatelin Cowgill, 2.

Cowgill’s northbound truck ran into the rear of Lorton’s northbound vehicle, the state patrol said.

• A Racine woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 2:15 p.m. Thursday on Route BB, five miles south of Joplin in Newton County, the state patrol said.

Brittany A. Livermore, 24, was taken to Freeman Hospital West.

She was driving a westbound car that ran off the road and struck a ditch, the patrol said.

• A resident of Stella was injured in a three-vehicle accident at 3:08 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 49 near Route FF, according to a Joplin police report.

Cynthia Haddock, 44, was taken to Freeman Hospital West, the report said.

Haddock was driving a southbound vehicle that collided with the side of the trailer of a southbound truck rig driven by Rory Tenhouse, 36, of Quincy, Ill., as Haddock was attempting a lane change. Her vehicle then struck the side of the trailer of Tenhouse’s truck a second time before spinning about in the roadway and colliding with the front of a second southbound tractor-trailer truck driven by Timothy W. Wiley, 50, of Joplin, the report said.
