Police respond to assault case at Joplin home

Joplin police are investigating a reported assault of a woman by her boyfriend Tuesday at a home in the 2600 block of South Pennsylvania Avenue.

Police Cpl. Chuck Niess said officers were called to the home at 8:15 p.m. after the boyfriend of a 32-year-old woman allegedly kicked in her back door and hit her several times in the face.

The boyfriend was gone when police arrived. Niess said the woman did not require transport to a hospital for treatment of her injuries.
