Defendant ordered to pay victim in child pornography case

CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — A federal judge has assessed a Carl Junction man 12 years in prison for possessing, receiving and distributing child pornography and tacked on a financial kicker to his punishment.

At a hearing today in federal court in Springfield, U.S. District Judge Greg Kays ruled that Jason Hill, 27, must serve the term without any chance of parole and further ordered the defendant to pay restitution to a child depicted in the pornography seized in his case. Hill must pay the victim $3,000 within 30 days, or owe him $5,000 in restitution, the judge ruled.

The defendant was convicted of one count of possessing and one count of receiving and distributing child pornography on Sept. 27 at the conclusion of a three-day trial.
