Deputies recover stolen vehicle, find meth lab

NEOSHO, Mo. — Newton County deputies turned up an alleged methamphetamine lab this week in the course of recovering a stolen pickup truck and skid steer.

Chief Deputy Chris Jennings said deputies, acting on a tip concerning suspected stolen property, went to 12866 Klausen Lane on Tuesday afternoon and located a Chevrolet truck that had been reported stolen in Fort Scott, Kan.

Jennings said deputies also located a suspected stolen Caterpillar skid steer at the address and an alleged meth lab in the trunk of a car.

Timothy Sargent, 50, was taken into custody and later charged with possession of chemicals with intent to manufacture meth and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

No charges had been filed by Thursday with respect to the suspected stolen truck and skid steer.
