Drug charges filed in separate arrests by Joplin police

The Jasper County prosecutor’s office has filed felony drug possession charges against two suspects in separate arrests made over the weekend by Joplin police.

Larry Davis, 52, of Pineville, Ark., was contacted by an officer checking out a trespassing complaint shortly before midnight Friday in the 700 block of South Murphy Avenue. Police Cpl. Chuck Niess said a consent search of the man reportedly turned up two bags of methamphetamine.

Tobijah I. Rodgers, 27, of Joplin, was arrested Friday afternoon after a traffic stop near Eighth Street and Chestnut Avenue. Niess said a vehicle that Rodgers was driving was stopped for allegedly playing excessively loud music and having an apparently altered temporary license plate.

Niess said a drug possession charge was added against Rodgers when the officer reportedly spotted some crack cocaine on the floorboard behind the driver’s seat.
