A vehicle stop and a check on the well-being of a child led to separate felony drug arrests over the weekend by Joplin police.
Carrie E. Walker, 27, of Carthage, was charged with felony possession of methadone and misdemeanor possession of marijuana after a traffic stop Saturday afternoon near 10th Street and Maiden Lane.
A stop of the vehicle Walker was driving led to a search of her purse, and four methadone pills and marijuana reportedly were found, according to Officer Michael Gayman of the Joplin Police Department.
Officers checking out a report of drug paraphernalia Sunday in the home of a child at 601 S. Patterson Ave. reportedly found a drug pipe inside the home and 3 grams of methamphetamine in a shed behind the house, Gayman said.
Two men and a woman were arrested on suspected possession of the drug. But only Dixie Mitchell, 55, who lives at the address, was charged. Police also called the state’s child abuse hot line, prompting a further investigation by the Children’s Division of the Missouri Department of Social Services.
