Fire damages home in Joplin; no injuries cited

The Joplin Fire Department was able to confine the damage in a house fire Friday morning to a back bedroom where the blaze began.

Firefighters responded to a 10:29 a.m. report of a fire in the 2100 block of East Nashville Street. Battalion Chief Jim Furgeson said three members of Matthew Beck’s family were home at the time, but were able to escape without injury.

Furgeson said the cause of the fire remained under investigation Friday afternoon. The property is owned by Eugene Kludge.
