Aurora resident hurt in accident in Barry County



A resident of Aurora suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 3:05 p.m. Thursday on Missouri Highway 39 in Barry County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Gary C. Atkinson, 46, was taken to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, the state patrol said.

Atkinson was driving a northbound vehicle that ran off the road on a curve and overturned, the patrol said.

• A Golden City woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 1 a.m. Thursday on County Road 90, three miles west of Golden City in Barton County, the state patrol said.

Laura R. Badgett, 38, was taken to Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar, the patrol said.

She was driving a westbound pickup truck that slid off the road, overturned and struck a fence, the patrol said.
