— The Jasper County prosecutor’s office has charged a rural Joplin man with failure to keep a correct address with the sheriff’s office as required by state law as a convicted sex offender.

Darrell R. Smith, 29, was arrested last week by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department.

According to a probable-cause affidavit, Smith was arrested after admitting to an investigator that he was not living at 1289 Estate Lane between June 1 and June 25, and had failed to report his change of address to the sheriff’s office.

The affidavit states that Smith has another sex-offender registration charge pending against him in Tulsa, Okla.
