Two drivers hurt in traffic accident west of Fairview

From staff reports

Two people were injured in a three-vehicle accident at 2:47 p.m. Wednesday on Missouri Highway 86, three miles west of Fairview in Newton County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Two of the drivers, Timothy S. Smith, 52, of Cassville, and Melissa R. Parker, 34, of Fairview, were taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the state patrol said.

Smith was driving an eastbound car that crossed the centerline, striking westbound cars driven by Parker and Juan Vasquez, 31, of Berryville, Ark. The collisions caused Vasquez’s car to run off the road and overturn into a fence, and Parker’s vehicle to strike a ditch and a fence. Smith’s vehicle also ran off the road and struck a fence, the patrol said.

• Two residents of Monett were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday at U.S. Business Highway 60 and Route W, three miles east of Monett in Barry County, the state patrol said.

Both drivers, Kyler G. McKnight, 18, and Nicolas A. Boggs, 19, were taken to Cox Monett Hospital, the patrol said.

McKnight was driving a pickup truck that pulled into the path of Boggs’ car and was struck broadside, the patrol said.
