Hearing waived in robbery case

A man accused of robbing a woman in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart store on Range Line Road in Joplin waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Jasper County Circuit Court.

Skip R. Huselton, 53, waived a hearing on charges of first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. Associate Judge Richard Copeland ordered him bound over for trial and set his initial appearance in a trial division of the court for June 18.

Huselton is accused of walking up to a woman who was waiting in a vehicle in the parking lot, showing her a handgun and demanding her money. He allegedly grabbed her purse, took from it a metal cigarette case containing about $20 worth of quarters, and walked away.
