Several injured in traffic accidents on roads in area

A Joplin man suffered minor injuries when his motorcycle was struck by a hit-and-run driver about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on Old Highway 71, five miles south of Joplin in Newton County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Jereal K. Guster, 26, told a state trooper that he would seek medical treatment on his own.

Guster was riding a northbound motorcycle when a car sideswiped him while passing him, forcing him off the roadway and causing his motorcycle to overturn, the patrol said. The driver of the car left the scene without stopping, the patrol said.

• A Seneca man suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday on Quince Road, five miles southeast of Seneca in Newton County, according to the patrol.

Scott R. Cradduck, 28, was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said.

Cradduck was driving a westbound vehicle that slid off the road, overturned and struck a fence, the patrol said.

• Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday on Route YY, two miles north of Carl Junction in Jasper County, the state patrol said.

One of the drivers, Mason S. Friend, 17, of Carl Junction, was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin. The other driver, Brian K. Hall, 24, of Columbus, Kan., was taken by private vehicle to the same hospital. A passenger in Friend’s vehicle, Brittany Lynam, 15, of Carl Junction, was taken by private vehicle to a clinic in Webb City.

Friend was driving a northbound vehicle that collided with Hall’s westbound vehicle at an intersection, the patrol said.

• A Carthage man was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 44, a quarter-mile west of Joplin in Newton County, the state patrol said.

Gary L. Bralley, 34, was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said.

Bralley was driving an eastbound pickup truck that ran into the rear of a tractor-trailer driven by Gary L. Grubbs, 59, of San Antonio, Texas, the patrol said.

• A resident of Anderson was injured in an accident about 4 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. Highway 71, a mile south of Joplin in Newton County, the state patrol said.

Jesus Z. Marcos, 20, was taken to Mercy Hospital Joplin, the patrol said.

Marcos was driving a southbound pickup truck that skidded into a southbound vehicle driven by Erin J. McMullen, 47, of Joplin, when McMullen slowed for a turning vehicle in front of her, the patrol said. Marcos’ truck had come to a stop after the collision when it was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Mary C. Jones, 39, of Neosho, the patrol said.
