Pedestrian hurt when hit by mirror of passing vehicle

A Noel man was injured at 5:57 a.m. Thursday when he was struck by a vehicle while walking along Highway 90, a quarter-mile east of Southwest City in McDonald County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The patrol said Christopher J. Stockton, 25, was wearing dark clothes and walking close to the fog line of the highway when he was struck by a rearview mirror of an eastbound Land Rover driven by Daren L. Conner, 43, of Grove, Okla.

Stockton was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin with moderate injuries, the patrol said.

• Both drivers suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday on Missouri Highway 37, a mile south of Sarcoxie, the state patrol said.

Joseph F. Thomas, 24, of Monett, and Rachel J. Larson, 35, of Sarcoxie, were taken to Cox Monett Hospital, the patrol said.

Thomas was driving a southbound pickup truck that crossed the centerline and struck Larson’s northbound car head-on, the patrol said.

• Two people were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday on Route V, a mile west of Mount Vernon in Lawrence County, the state patrol said.

The driver, Monterey L. Hartin, 32, and her passenger Madeline Mails, 2, both of Stotts City, were taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, the state patrol said.

The westbound vehicle ran off the road, struck a ditch, vaulted over another road and overturned, the patrol said.
