Both drivers were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 7:30 a.m. Friday on Missouri Highway 86 at Racine in Newton County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Jessica A. Siegfried, 16, and Brandy W. Blankenship, 37, both of Neosho, were taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said.
Siegfried was driving a westbound car and pulled into the path of Blankenship’s northbound car, the patrol said.
• A Carthage man suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 6:28 p.m. Thursday on U.S. Highway 71, a half-mile south of Carthage in Jasper County, according to the state patrol.
Donovan D. Stahl, 36, was taken by ambulance to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said.
Stahl was driving a northbound vehicle that ran off the road and overturned, throwing him from the vehicle, the patrol said.
• A Joplin man was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 5:09 p.m. Thursday on Route NN, four miles south of Joplin in Newton County, according to the state patrol.
Terry E. Duvall, 51, was taken to Freeman Hospital West, the patrol said.
Duvall was riding a southbound scooter that collided with a southbound pickup truck driven by Clyde L. Eppard, 65, of Neosho, when Eppard attempted to pass Duvall as Duvall made a left turn, the patrol said.

Barton County Prosecutor Steven Kaderly on Wednesday charged a Mindenmines man with first-degree felony assault of another man, who was in serious condition at a Joplin hospital. The felony charge against Charles Lee Kerby, 32, alleges that on Sunday he assaulted John Bryant, 58, causing serious physical injuries. The assault happened in the 800 block of Tucker Street in Mindenmines.

Newton pleaded guilty in Jasper County Circuit Court to first-degree statutory rape, first-degree statutory sodomy and felony failure to appear in court in a plea agreement with the prosecutor’s office.

A suspect accused of trying to run down two Joplin police officers with a sport utility vehicle early Sunday was winged in an arm and hand when the officers shot at him in response, police said. Brandon J. Knoderer, 32, underwent surgery Monday at a Joplin hospital to remove bullet fragments from his right arm and left hand.
