Department responds to early morning fire

JOPLIN, Mo. — No injuries were reported in an early morning fire on South Jackson Avenue, according to a news release from the Joplin Fire Department.

At 1:20 a.m., the department responded to a structure fire at a two-story vacant house at 916 S. Jackson Ave. Crews had the fire under control by 1:57 and remained on the scene until just after 4 a.m.

Four units and 16 department personnel responded to the fire.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
