Two teens hurt in traffic accident north of Monett

Two teenagers were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 9:15 p.m. Thursday on Route H, a mile north of Monett in Lawrence County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Jesus Perez, 17, and Leonard Garcia, 15, both of Purdy, were taken by ambulance to Cox Monett Hospital, the state patrol said.

They were both passengers in a northbound car driven by Juan C. Silva-Hernandez, 17, of Monett, that ran off the road, struck an embankment and overturned when he lost control of the vehicle on a slush- and ice-covered road, the patrol said.

• A Texas woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 7:40 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 49, three miles north of Neosho in Newton County, the state patrol said.

Sammie S. Stewart, 25, of Liberty Hill, Texas, was taken by ambulance to Freeman Neosho Hospital, the patrol said.

Stewart was driving a northbound car that ran off the road and struck a sign, the patrol said.

• A Kansas resident was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 5:53 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 49, six miles south of Lamar in Barton County, the state patrol said.

Samnany U. Chit, 42, of Fort Scott, Kan., was taken to Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar, the patrol said.

Chit was driving a northbound vehicle that ran off the road and overturned when he lost control on the snow-covered road, the patrol said.

• A Lamar teenager was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 5:20 p.m. Thursday on Route A, five miles east of Lamar in Barton County, the state patrol said.

Trent J. Hall, 16, was taken to Barton County Memorial Hospital, the patrol said.

Hall was driving a southbound car that crossed the center line and struck head-on a northbound car driven by Jessie Y. Moore, 26, of Milo, when Hall lost control of his vehicle on the snow-covered road, the patrol said.
