Bank robbery attempted in Lanagan

LANAGAN, Mo. — A lone gunman tried to rob the Cornerstone Bank in Lanagan this afternoon, according to the McDonald County sheriff.

Sheriff Robert Evenson said a man entered the bank on Main Street in Lanagan between 1:30 and 1:45 p.m. wearing a bandanna over his face. He had a long gun in his possession, believed most likely to have been a shotgun, and left in a vehicle initially described as a dark-colored pickup truck, the sheriff said.

“He didn’t get anything, and he didn’t hurt anybody,” Evenson said.

At least that was the upshot of preliminary information the sheriff had received from investigators, he said.
