Anderson woman faces felony charge of car tampering

— Joplin police arrested a woman from Anderson over the weekend on a felony charge of tampering with vehicles on a used-car lot.

Jessie J. Lesley, 22, was arrested at 1:47 a.m. Sunday on the lot of the Roper Bargain Center, 901 S. Illinois Ave.

Police Cpl. Chuck Niess said an officer heard a disturbance on the lot and reportedly observed Lesley trying to break out a window of the business with a metal object. Niess said an investigation determined that she had broken into one or more used cars on the lot in an apparent attempt to steal a vehicle.
