Man, charged in Sunday incident, arrested again

A man charged with drug trafficking and felony fleeing in Joplin earlier this week was arrested again on Thursday, that time accused of driving while intoxicated and felony possession of cocaine rocks.

Police Sgt. Charla Geller said an officer stopped a vehicle for an alleged traffic violation at 22nd and Main streets and arrested the driver, Augusta T. Daniels, 28, of Joplin, and a 27-year-old female passenger.

Geller said two small rocks of cocaine were found in Daniels’ possession.

Daniels was involved in a brief police chase of a vehicle and injury accident Sunday morning on East Seventh Street. Geller said 50 grams of cocaine were found in his vehicle at that time.

The female passenger with him on Thursday was charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance when a bag of marijuana was discovered on her person at Joplin City Jail, Geller said.
