Officers responding to a reported robbery Saturday night in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart store at 1501 S. Range Line Road found a suspect still on the lot.

Joplin police Cpl. Chuck Niess said officers were called at 10:35 p.m. concerning the robbery of Ashley A. Fierce, 43.

Fierce was sitting in a vehicle while her husband was inside the store, and a man walked up, opened the driver’s door and demanded her money, Niess said. He said the robber appeared to Fierce to have something in his hand that she thought might be a gun. He started going through her purse, and took $20 in quarters and a lighter before leaving, Niess said.

Officers found a man who fit a description provided by Fierce, and she identified him as her alleged robber. Skip R. Huselton, 53, was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action, although no gun was ever found.
