Joplin man faces assault charge



A 42-year-old Joplin man has been charged with felony domestic assault for allegedly choking his girlfriend during a dispute at their residence.

Police Cpl. Chuck Niess said officers were called about 8:50 p.m. Tuesday to South Byers Avenue regarding a domestic disturbance.

Niess said Theodore L. Williams was taken into custody for allegedly choking Angel D. Hoagland, 34. Hoagland did not require immediate medical attention, he said. Williams was charged with second-degree domestic assault.
