Pittsburg man facing charges in store robbery

PITTSBURG, Kan. — A suspect in the armed robbery of a convenience store in Pittsburg early Tuesday was spotted by a police officer on the streets about seven hours later and ultimately arrested.

A man armed with a handgun robbed Bo’s One Stop store at 1116 W. Fourth St. at 12:46 a.m. and left the business on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Pittsburg police and Crawford County sheriff’s deputies searched the neighborhood of the store but were unable to locate the suspect.

Pittsburg police said in a news release that an image of the robber was obtained from the store’s video surveillance system, and shortly after 8 a.m., a man who appeared to fit the picture was noticed by an officer in the 500 block of North Warren Avenue and was taken in for questioning.

Lucas Eugene Blaine Hollingsworth, 24, of Pittsburg, was charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and theft.

The news release stated that no one was injured in the robbery but provided no explanation for the assault and theft charges. The Globe’s efforts to reach a police spokesman for a fuller explanation of the charges were unsuccessful.
