Carthage woman hurt in accident near Carterville

A Carthage woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday on Missouri Highway 171, two miles north of Carterville in Jasper County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Jenna R. Hamilton, 25, was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, the patrol said.

She was driving a southbound car that struck a bridge when she lost control of the vehicle, the patrol said.

• Two residents of Washburn were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday on Farm Road 1010, five miles west of Washburn in Barry County, the state patrol said.

The driver of the car, Brandie S. Cotton, 22, and her passenger, Payten G. Cotton, 4, were taken to Mercy Hospital in Cassville, the patrol said.

Their northbound car ran off the road and overturned when Cotton swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway, the patrol said.
