Joplin man facing assault charge in domestic case



Joplin police arrested a 45-year-old man Tuesday on a felony domestic assault charge after he allegedly hit his girlfriend several times and choked her.

Officers were called at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday regarding a domestic disturbance at 2217 S. Sergeant Ave. Jeffrey A. Bohannan was taken into custody and charged with second-degree domestic assault.

Police Cpl. Chuck Niess said Bohannan is accused of assaulting Elizabeth M. Baez, 32. Baez did not require immediate medical attention, he said.
