JOPLIN, Mo. —
The Jasper County prosecutor’s office has filed felony drug charges against two people who were arrested over the weekend by Joplin police.
Bobby L. Cooper, 24, 2425 W. Zora St., was charged with possession of a controlled substance in connection with a vehicle stop at 4:14 a.m. Sunday at 15th Street and Range Line Road, according to Cpl. Chuck Niess of the Joplin Police Department.
Niess said an officer followed a vehicle Cooper was driving after watching him pull out of a motel parking lot without his headlights on and allegedly observed him throwing an object out the window at 17th Street and Range Line Road. The object allegedly proved to be a bag of methamphetamine, and the officer reportedly found a second bag inside the vehicle after stopping Cooper, Niess said.
In a separate incident about 1 a.m. Saturday, an officer following up on a suspect in some reported vandalism approached a man on a porch in the 1100 block of East Hill Street and arrested him after he allegedly tried to discard a syringe containing meth.
William C. Clarke Jr., 30, of Webb City, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
