Quapaw resident hurt in accident east of Miami



A resident of Quapaw, Okla., was injured in a motorcycle accident at 7:08 p.m. Monday on Highway 10, about four miles east of Miami in Ottawa County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Gregory W. Simpson, 50, was taken to Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami, the state patrol said.

Simpson was riding a westbound motorcycle that struck a roll of wire on the roadway, overturned and slid more than 250 feet before coming to rest, the patrol said.
