Coroner rules man’s death suicide case

The Newton County coroner has ruled the death of a Joplin man discovered by police Saturday night to have been a suicide by hanging.

Officers checking on the well-being of Anthony J. Grandinetti, 38, at the request of his landlord found Grandinetti’s body in a bedroom of his home at 3802 S. Virginia Ave., according to police Lt. Charla Geller. She said Grandinetti was believed to have died sometime before Jan. 1.
